Creating Note Templates
How to write a Note Template, choose between snapshot and living note types, and use community templates.
A Note Template defines what a generated note should contain. Write it once and reuse it across as many meetings or accounts as you like.
Create a template
- In the desktop app, open the Knowledge tab and select Note Templates.
- Choose to create a new template.
- Give it a title (for example, "Discovery Call Summary").
- Write the prompt — describe the structure and content you want. Be specific: list the sections and the kinds of details MagicScreen should pull from the transcript.
- Choose whether this is a Living note:
- Leave it off for a standard template that generates a one-off snapshot note per meeting.
- Turn on Living note to create a template for an account-level document that accumulates over time. See Living Notes.
- Save the template.
💡 Write the prompt the way you'd brief a teammate: "Capture the customer's goals, current tools, objections, budget signals, and agreed next steps." Clear prompts produce better notes.
Use community templates
The Note Templates area also includes ready-made community templates you can search and adopt — covering common sales and team workflows like discovery capture, account notes, mutual action plans, and call debriefs. Browse them for a head start instead of writing from scratch.
Edit or delete a template
Open a template to view its Configuration and the Meetings where it's been used. From there you can edit its title and prompt, or delete it. Editing a template changes how it generates notes from then on; notes already generated stay as they are.
Applying a template
- To a single meeting: use + Add note during a live call, or attach it from the meeting's detail page afterward. This generates a snapshot note.
- To an account: apply a Living note template to an account so it updates after each linked meeting. See Living Notes.
