Notes and templates overview
The difference between Note Templates, snapshot notes, and Living Notes — and when to use each.
MagicScreen turns your conversations into written notes automatically. There are two pieces to understand: Note Templates (what a note should contain) and the notes themselves (the generated output).
Note Templates
A Note Template is a reusable template you write once and use across many meetings. It has a title and a prompt describing what the note should capture — for example, a discovery-call summary, a list of action items, or a deal-risk checklist.
You manage templates in the Knowledge tab of the desktop app, under Note Templates. You can write your own and browse ready-made community templates. See Creating Note Templates.
Two kinds of notes
Snapshot notes
A snapshot note is a one-off note generated for a single meeting. You attach a template to a meeting (during the call with + Add note, or afterward from the meeting's detail page), and MagicScreen fills it in from that meeting's transcript. Snapshot notes are perfect for per-call summaries and action items.
Living Notes
A Living Note belongs to an account rather than a single meeting. It keeps accumulating: every time a meeting linked to that account ends, the Living Note updates itself with what's new. Living Notes are ideal for documents that should reflect the whole relationship — an account overview, an implementation tracker, or a running list of open items. See Living Notes.
| Snapshot note | Living Note | |
|---|---|---|
| Attached to | A single meeting | An account |
| Updates over time | No — one-time | Yes — after each linked meeting |
| Best for | Per-call summaries, action items | Account overviews, ongoing trackers |
Where notes appear
- Snapshot notes show on the meeting in the Meetings tab.
- Living Notes show on the account in the Accounts tab.
Notes that are queued during a live call generate automatically when the meeting ends.
